PY1002N Developmental Psychology 1 .

This component focuses on the of concepts in developing theory, analysis methods employed by developmental specialists, cognition, language, development of the self- which includes gender advancement and connection, and interpersonal and ethnic influences upon development. Semester: Autumn and Spring. Assessment: Coursework essay (25%), Evaluation (75%)

Component aims

This module aims to expose students towards the following matters in developing psychology: theories and concepts in developmental psychology, exploration methods in developmental psychology, cognitive advancement, theory of mind, expert relationships, meaningful development, attachment and dialect development.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, the student will:

1 ) have an obvious understanding of a variety of developmental topics and related scientific studies covering up cognitive, sociable and ethnical aspects of advancement; 2 . possess broad understanding of methodological techniques and techniques used by developmental psychologists; 3. have an awareness of a range of theoretical techniques used in developing psychology and understand how these might be evaluated by means of empirical studies.

Learning and teaching

Lectures deliver core material to students (e. g., key ideas, empirical work and assumptive explanation) and supply a framework for further studying and impartial study. Small group teaching lessons provide the opportunity for more effective participation by simply students in seminar discussions and practical exercises. These kinds of sessions require preparatory focus on the part of pupils and have a semi-structured structure to ensure several standardisation between groups but allowing for variance in scholar input and questions. Coursework provides an opportunity for the student to get formative opinions.
